Authoring Action Celebrates First Victory on International Screen

Winston-Salem, N.C. May 20, 2010 – Authoring Action celebrates as its documentary of the same name claims its first victory on the international screen. "Authoring Action" won Best Documentary at the Swansea Bay Film Festival in Wales, UK.

The film was nominated among other documentaries produced by filmmakers from around the world. Nevertheless, this film exploring the power of Authoring Action's signature creative writing and spoken word processes in the lives of area youth claimed the golden laurels.

Now back on US soil, filmmaker Nathan Ross Freeman is preparing to co-lead the upcoming Authoring Action Summer Institute in Winston-Salem in June and return to the UK for additional festivals later this summer.

“We’ll keep our fingers crossed for the six other festivals where "Authoring Action” has been selected for screening in the UK, Ireland, Africa and Thailand,” said Freeman. “For now, we’re focusing on our summer program and building collaborations with area schools and youth organizations to give more youth the opportunity to have their own Authoring Action experience.”

The Swansea Bay Film Festival took place from May 7-16 in Swansea Bay, Wales, UK.

The world can change...with just one word.
