African American Heritage Day

Assegai Outreach Ensemble members will present original written works  as part of Charlotte Hawkins Museum's annual African American Heritage Day, a free event established to recognize and celebrate the history, music, dance, and craftwork of African Americans locally and throughout the world. 

Event Time: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Assegai engagement: 2:30 p.m.- 3 p.m.

Authoring Action Co-Leaders Named 2010 Humanitarian Award Winners

Winston-Salem, N.C. June June 4, 2010 – Committed to supporting “Leadership through the Arts," the ScottCares Foundation announced its 2010 community humanitarian honorees at the 4th Annual Scholarship & Humanitarian Awards event held Friday, June 4, 2010. 

Authoring Action co-leaders Lynn Rhoades and Nathan Ross Freeman we among those honored for their contributions to building stronger communities. 

Program Co-Leaders Named 2010 ECHO Award Winners

Winston-Salem, N.C. May 5, 2010 –The ECHO Awards, presented jointly by the ECHO Council and Winston-Salem Foundation, recognize outstanding individuals who creatively work to build trusting relationships for a stronger community. This year, Authoring Action's program co-leaders, Lynn Rhoades and Nathan Ross Freeman, were among those honored with the prestigious award.

Authoring Action Celebrates First Victory on International Screen

Winston-Salem, N.C. May 20, 2010 – Authoring Action celebrates as its documentary of the same name claims its first victory on the international screen.

Authoring Action Documentary to Screen at Film Festivals Worldwide

Winston-Salem, N.C. (March 9, 2010) -- Authoring Action, a feature documentary produced and edited by Nathan Ross Freeman, co-founder of the non-profit organization that now bears the same name (formerly known as The Winston-Salem Youth Arts Institute), has been selected to screen at a series of international and domestic film festivals. This honor will shine a spotlight on the work and mission of Authoring Action, a unique Winston-Salem-based educational enrichment and outreach organization for youth.
